  1. So nice to hear the song to go with the lyrics for Fire in their Eyes Ian. And i cant wait until the completed demo is done, thank you for posting the rough take on this, i love it

  2. Solitary Man has to be one of my favorites but to be honest Ian, i love every song you have done. Your voice is just perfect and its obvious that this genre is the one you were born to sing. So glad i found you and your music. Please post up more songs here when you get a chance xx

Solitary Man

Cosimo Pressutti - Otherwise known as Cosmo the Gentleman Tramp - became one of Edinburgh's best known characters as he lived for more than 10 years around the Royal Mile. Cosmo was somebody who had great integrity, he was a colourful character. He didn't beg and, in fact, if anyone offered him money he would quickly refuse them. This song is dedicated to Cosmo who died, tragically in an accident, in 2001.

You Can't Sink a Rainbow

Whilst docked in a harbour in New Zealand preparing to join a flotilla in the South Pacific, that was to try and stop Nuclear tests being carried out by the French, the Rainbow Warrior was blown up by members of the French Special Services. On hearing this news one of the Original crew members back in the UK remarked "You can't sink a rainbow". This line inspired me to write the song which I dedicate to Fernando Pereira who was killed by the explosion.

Fire in Their Eyes

Typically in folk songs there is a storyline of "Boy meets girl - fall in love - forbidden to be together as father has promised girl to another - they get together anyway - sad end" Also they are usually quite bouncy upbeat tunes. Anyway here is a rough demo version of one I wrote. Still not sure on title, alternative is "Lost Souls"
